Only recently new discoveries have been made about our universe that are truly sensational. These include new insights into the Big Bang, the discovery of planets in distant solar systems and research into the mysterious Dark Matter and Dark Energy. One of the most pressing questions is, “Is there life in other worlds and on other planets? And how soon will we know?” Chances are that an answer is imminent. There are several extremely promising hints that range from the adaptation of life to the most hostile of environments to the discovery of countless new planets. It is of decisive importance that we now have the technological potential to track down extraterrestial life. What is particularly fascinating is the insight that our universe has been fashioned in a way that makes life possible. We will be discussing not only scientific hypotheses such as that of the multiverse, which postulates the existence of countless different universes but also their philosophical implications.
