Roland Gnaiger
Roland Gnaiger is among Austria’s most versatile architects. Ever since he graduated from university he has been a trailblazer not just for architecture in Vorarlberg through his lectures, seminars, articles and interviews. The ORF programme “PLUS-MINUS” in “Vorarlberg heute”, which he was in charge of between 1985 and 1993, supplying 151 reports himself, has helped establish a public forum for a discourse on architecture. His manifold activities as a mediator (ranging from exhibition design to multimedia projects) and the role he continues to play on architectural advisory boards and in competition juries are important contributions to a pan-Austrian architectural culture. As an architect he has realized a number of key projects and has been awarded Österreichischer Bauherrenpreis four times. Since 1996 Gnaiger has been head of the Department of Architecture at the University of Arts and Industrial Design Linz and maintains a high profile through exceptional projects.
