Thomas Kallinger
Thomas Kallinger graduated in astrophysics from Vienna University and is at present engaged on research work at the University of British Columbia, Canada. His special area of interest is stellar pulsation. In a way stellar pulsation is reminiscent of earthquakes, as stars are also subject to quakes. These enable astronomers to catch a glimpse of what goes on inside them. This kind of research involves ultraprecise long-term measurements that are carried out from space satellites. Thomas Kallinger is involved in several such satellite projects, including the Canadian-Austrian miniature satellite “Most”, the French satellite “CoRoT” and the recently launched NASA satellite “Kepler”. Kallinger is the author of a great number of scientific papers and has contributed to the development of the Austrian satellite “Brite”.
