Barbara Tóth

Barbara Tóth (born 1976) is an Austrian journalist and author with a pronounced Central European background – her mother being Czech and her father Hungarian. She read History and Journalism and attended the “profil” course in magazine journalism in 1996/97. After a spell as a freelance journalist for “profil” she was an editor for the weekly “Format” from 2000 to 2007;  from April 2003 to July 2007 Tóth was also domestic politics editor for the “Standard”, in which she had her own regular column, “Kolportiert”. Since August 2007 she has been an editor with the city paper “Falter”. She is duty editor of the periodical “Nu” and the “Basler Zeitung” correspondent on Austrian and East European politics.

In 2002 she was an intern at the Berlin section of “Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung” and at the Prague weekly “Respekt”. In 2003 Tóth was Milena-Jesenská Fellow at the Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen (IWM).
