Claus Pias
Claus Pias read electrical engineering, art history, German studies and philosophy in Aachen, Bonn and Bochum. He got an assistantship for “History and Theory of Artificial Worlds “ at the Bauhaus University Weimar and received his PhD for a thesis on the history of computer games. He was visiting lecturer in Basel, Karlsruhe, Bochum and Essen. Pias is a fellow of the IFK Internationales Forschungszentrum Kulturwissenschaften Vienna, of the IKKM Internationales Kolleg für Kulturtechnikforschung und Medienphilosophie Weimar and of the Wissenschaftskolleg Berlin. In 2006 he was appointed Professor of Theory of cognition and Philosophy of the media at the University of Vienna. His key research areas include the history and theory of digital media and the history of science and technology of the 20th century. He has been a member of the Kepler Salon Advisory Board since 2008.
