Are Asteroids a Threat to Earth?

Ever since the solar system came into being 4.6 billion years ago, the planets and their moons have been exposed to bombardment by asteroids and comets. In the case of Earth these impacts were the reason why the dinosaurs became extinct. Even though these events are at present extremely rare, they are theoretically possible at any time yet modern technology may enable us to prevent being hit by an asteroid.

The audience will actually get to see the stuff that asteroids are made of in the form of small meteorites.
