Martin Treberspurg

Martin Treberspurg (born 1953) graduated in Architecture and Civil Engineering from Vienna University of Technology. In the early 1980s he became an assistant professor at the Institut für Hochbau of the University of Technology. In 1985 Treberspurg received his licence as a civil engineer and opened his own architectural practice in Vienna. In 1992 he received his doctorate. Since 1993 he has lectured on Solar Architecture and Ecological Design at Vienna University of Technology. In 1996 Treberspurg & Partner Architekten Ziviltechniker GmbH was founded, with Treberspurg as managing partner. In 1999 he was awarded the Sir-Robert-Matthew Award, the Global Architecture Prize of the UIA Union Internationale des Architectes, in Beijing. Since 2003 Treberspurg has also been active as a lecturer on real estate and as a scientific advisor of FH Vienna. In the same year Künstlerhaus Wien staged an exhibition of his work as an architect. In 2004 he was appointed to the chair of Resource Oriented Architecture at BOKU, the University of Natural Resources and Applied Sciences Vienna. Treberspurg’s architectural projects in Linz include the Arcade at Taubenmarkt; he also made significant contributions to the design of SolarCity and to the adaptation of the reading rooms of the Austrian National Library in Vienna. His latest publication is SolarCity Linz Pichling. Nachhaltige Stadtentwicklung (Springer Verlag 2008).
